"The Yoga of Recovery"

- Kimberly F.

For those who are unfamiliar with the deeper practices of yoga and Ayurveda (yoga’s sister science), the tendency is to believe that yoga is a sport or exercise program. Nothing could be further from the truth. “The Yoga of Recovery“ (YoR), and, the “Noble Eightfold Path” of Yoga offers the ACA and other populations who still struggle with addiction, an opportunity to weave their 12 Step program with an ancient science brought forward through the years.

By addressing the root cause of addiction, Yoga and Ayurveda offer tools to support your personal growth in body, mind and spirit.  The purpose of YoR is to share the time-honored tools designed to encourage you to make better lifestyle choices for yourself while enjoying the gentle restorative practices of yoga asana. The goal of YoR is to empower you to create, in tandem with your 12-step work, a safe and supportive environment in which you can Live (In) The Solution.

Today, Kimberly will introduce you to the basic concepts of YoR and will use the Serenity Prayer as the theme to lead you into an adventure of self-discovery using the language of the 12-steps while offering breathing practices (Pranayama), Mindfulness Meditation practices, and a gentle restorative yoga asana practice.
