Brief Biography

Grace E. Murphy R.N., M.A.

Grace’s greatest joy is that she is the mother of four adult children and the proud grandmother of one grandson.

She is a Registered Nurse and licensed Marriage Family Therapist. Her career focus is in medicine, addiction, recovery and family treatment.

In her private therapy practice in Palos Verdes Estates, CA, 100% of her clients work on “family of origin” topics related to ACA issues. As a qualifying member of ACA herself, Grace sees things from the inside out as well as a treating health care professional. In her opinion, “All addiction, gambling, sex, alcohol, drugs, debting, compulsive spending, addiction to adrenaline, hyper-religiosity, eating disorders and others are secondary and the anesthesia to people who are suffering from co-dependency use. All co-dependency begins in the family of origin, which makes ACA the primary disease.”

She is Chairman of the Board of the National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependence/South Bay. Weekly, she consults at Ocean Recovery, a full-service treatment program in Newport Beach, CA. She developed and implemented the family treatment programs at Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach, CA, Centinela Hospital in Inglewood, CA, and the original family treatment program at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, CA.

She is a member the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, of which she is also past President.
